On Friday night we finally made it to Die Kartoffel in Ladenburg, a restaurant we’ve been hearing about for a long time but have never managed to visit. We went with the Kalsis. It was a beautiful early fall evening, with just a slight chill in the air.
The place is very quaintly decorated in traditional German accoutrement.
The house specialty is raw meat served with a blazing hot stone slab which allows guest to cook their own steak, lamb or pork. We started with baked potatoes that we excellent, served the way most people like them any way: an amount of sour cream equal to the weight of the potato! Manpreet ordered hers with cream of caviar. Very chic, no?She was so stuffed she forewent a main course. Preet and B ordered nice filets.I ordered a mixed platter of beef, pork and turkey. It was very good, but if I had it to do over again I would order the filet. We were too way to meat-laden to even think about dessert. B and Manpreet wondered downstairs to see the cozy basement. We had a great time so I highly recommend Die Kartoffel, although at around 40 Euros per person it is a tad pricey.
