So I stayed in Iguaba after B, my mother-in-law and the kids returned to Niterói. Since my father-in-law was planning to return to Cabo Frio, he hung around as well. At first, we were just drinking beer and chatting. After a while, I picked up the guitar and started playing in my inimitable style (inimitable because it’s harder to play that poorly than it looks).
Before long, Ralf was playing a few tunes, old and new. Unable to resist the opportunity to play to a captive, drunken crowd, my father-in-law started playing. He goes by the nickname Carlyle and is well known in Niterói a a great bossa nova singer and guitarist. The official handoff from Ralf (above) to Carlyle… Entertaining a demanding crowd of drunks is hard work… What’s a bossa nova session without sound?
